Charleston, West Virginia (WV)

Charleston, WV was originally chartered in 1794, as Charles Town, name changed to Charleston in 1819.  Named by George Clendenin, one of the earliest settlers, for his father, Charles Clendenin. Charleston, WV is the state capital of West Virginia and the county seat of Kanawha County.
